I agree with you analysis of VSNL's poor service track record. However, MTNL is no better. We have a corporate connection, yet they have not bothered to fix the connection for over 2 months!!

MTNL's PLAN ARE POOR...BUT SERVICE GOOD.............
    2)BSNL AND AIRTEL R BEST...
    3) IF U WANT CABLENET SO CHOOOSE EXATT OR SOME WHERE ELSEE...

Hathway is too slow and has rather frequent breakdowns.

  • At 12:32 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

MTNL must be dreaming.Rs 20,000/mth for the only true unlimited access plan. They're joking surely?
You telecom and Bharti websites dont work....sheesh!! and they're in the internet biz???
Pacenet will not list prices for packages nor give you prices on the phone. I think it must vary depending on the shoes the customer wears. Where are my kolhapuris now...
Rs 950/mth for 256k puts tataindicom in top spot. Now if only they'd sack the ill mannered operators dealing with clients they'd rule for sure.
You claim sify sucks based on some personal experience you've had???
Last time i called a Hathway operator to complain about a friends connection his wife answered and said to call back later as she was feeding the baby....

Avoid using Reliance for wireless connection, they are calculating absurd bills (some times bill is charged 3 times),very poor customer service and above all very low speed.

  • At 1:26 PM, Blogger photo said…

Please, don't opt for SIFY by any chance.

It has the poorest and most pathetic net services.

  • At 1:57 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Ya, I agree with one feedback that HATHWAY broadband connection is very poor & very slow. Its recommended to use GPRS instead of HATHWAY broadband....I'm really frustrated!!!!

hathway sucks to hell - slow speed is one thing, their customer care is a joke! when i had an issue, i had to call up 3-4 times without fail everyday for an engineer for 12 days and then... i just gave up!! resolved? NOOOO!

  • At 10:30 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Lets face it.. none of them even deserve to be in business...especially MTNL.. they've got pretty high hopes if they think people are gonna pay 15,000 a month for a damn connection.. I'm tired of switching connections.. none are good.. guess its time to go back to stone age n throw the computers out..

  • At 2:32 PM, Blogger Gaurishankar said…

Yeah I do Agree with all the comments. Specially Reliance , Absurd billing , and they must be joking. For 5 days usgae they had billed me 24000/ and asking to compromise at Rs. 13332/- I said , no way. Normally I get bill of Rs. 1500-1700 PM. But this month my services are stopped even after paying the bill and now they are asking me coughup 13332 and then they will start my services.

I am suffering with sify for last 4 months. I have put countless number of complains and in my opinion the service is not at all upto the mark of any minimal standard.

  • At 6:51 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

yeah i agree wid some of u guys, Reliance Wireless Broadband really sucks big time, the connection speed is deadly slow, the pages take upto 5 mins to load n needless to say, the connection keeps dropping quite frequently..
they also made me wait for almost 10 days to get the connection while before buying the connection i was told that i will get the connection the very next day from the date of payment, really poor service man...

I agree about the point raised for MTNL customer care.... but after all they are government employees... so dont expect much from them....

I m using MTNL triband for almost 4 years... earlier they had a very good speed... but nowadays it gets broken several times....

  • At 9:26 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

I think Ahura Broadband is the best of the lot in South Mumbai...I have been using them since the past 3 yrs. It's a small time organization with not many staff but much better service in terms of customer satisfaction & bandwidth delivery is good.May not be the ultimate service to use but definitely the best of the lot and that too at a fraction of the cost of MTNL, VSNL or Hathway. They have no hidden costs and are readily available at your beck and call..if anybody interested you can email them at ahurabroadband@gmail.com
Better to be aware of a known devil than an unknown one..just ma two cents..cheers!!

  • At 12:49 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

i have used tata indicom...it is just too bad...not worth taking.
Instead of tht exactt net is a local provider & is better

  • At 12:32 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

i agree completely....in south mumbai, ahura broadband rocks man!!..

  • At 3:10 PM, Blogger Sharwari said…

oooops! mtnl is good speed-wise but usage bills? its horrible. they charge you for broadband usage of 'hackers' too n u r shocked to receive huge amount of bill n upon writing a complaint about possibility of 'hacking'or misuse of our broadband connection by some outsider, they dont even bother to respond or rectify.

  • At 3:40 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

i completely agree with MTNL's usage bills antics. its complete bollocks and they just never respond. Airtel and Reliance don't cover my area in south Mumbai. i've been thinking of switching to Tata but now I'm skeptical.

  • At 11:25 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

MTNL's customer service is ineffective, inefficient and rude.

Their service is completely unreliable. They take several days to rectify a 'server problem'. So, what's the use of an Internet connection if you can't use it for days on end?

If you are thinking of conducting business based on MTNL's connection, forget it. You will lose customers because of MTNL's inconsistent service.

If you want to download a file of even 10 mb, forget it because invariably the connection will be reset and you will have to start over again and again.

All-in-all, MTNL offers marginally reasonable plans but they are not of use because of the downtime.

  • At 3:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Are there any providers near Malad that are good? I dont see a single good review here.

  • At 12:32 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

I had TATA Indicom Wireless and it was the worst ever. Pacenet is also crap . The only stable thing I have been forced to use is SIFY. Cant comment on others

  • At 3:58 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

MTNL plan are good but service is worst the engineer all from bhiar asking for bribe for good services within a month u will be access net for 4 days so" PLS DO'NT CHOOSE MTNL"

i dont understand how these people are judging the services offered by ISP.

    might be NON-tech

  • At 11:11 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

I use MTNL Triband, the speed is good for a unlimited plan of Rs 1000 get a speed of 256 kbps (Thane region)

  • At 11:14 AM, Anonymous devang said…

you telecom sucks...their billing systems has problems. Also they do not trust their old customers and have limits on using their services in a day. They expect customers to use only particular mbs in day which is impossible.Plz do not buy this connection.I have 5 connctn which i am removing of you telecom.

  • At 11:45 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Done ever use exacttnet. I dont know who thinks they are nice. But thier connection is either slow or completely down for at least 15 days of the month!!!! I am using them right now and plan to change. But all other services cost higeher than exactt, so I am wondering what if even after paying more amount i get the same service?? My money gives no returns............

Reliance is slow but really cheap!

  • At 8:51 PM, Blogger mantris said…

See... its simple. Many of these ISPs are good till ... one day you face a problem ... then ALL of them sucks. Currently I'm having Reliance. 1000/- for 400 kbps/month is not bad but, I'm suffering from frequent disconnection problems and it doesn't stop 'cause they don't know how to fix it. Once I paid a bill late and I got 10 calls a day. Put a technical complained ... nobody calls. They all suck. Thinking of starting my own ISP :) Heard of Sify but again on this site nobody recommends ... How is that? Suppose to be the best according to many? India just doesn't know how to handle Internet but knows how to handle money ... as usual

i m using sify in mulund. i m satisfied as the speed is consistent.also u can check out tikona digital networks. it gives a speed of 1 mbps on a plan of 2 mbps, but then its ok. the only problem with tikona is that it gets disconnected very often. its a wireless service.

  • At 2:20 PM, Blogger S@@D said…

i agree with all of u that hathway service is fuckall! they don't knw that how to handle customer i register my complain many times but i don't give any response..... hathway service is very very poooooor .....

  • At 7:28 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

hathway is much better. they have various plan. just select the right one for u. Experience with Pacenet was really BAD.
Also reading the above comments tells one thing, every one is fustrated with their own net connections & expressing that the other serviice is good.

  • At 12:53 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

what a pathetic state of affairs. financial district of Mera Bharat Mahaan and not single reliable isp. my nephew was laughing at me when i told him i paid Rs.520/150 kbps per comp... he pays 10$/1 mbps in the US

I wouldn't recommend MTNL. They have very poor technical support. In the past month my service has gone down atleast 4-5 times. Everytime I report it, the next day its fixed but they are not able to figure out why the ADSL service goes down so frequently. In one instance, the service wa down for a whole week. Inthe last incedent, everytime I call them they said a technician will be coming home but no one shows up. They keep calling me and asking if the service has been restored and I keep saying that it not and someone is supposed to be here but no one comes. When you call the 1504 number to talk to someone, they put you on hold and forget you, no one comes back on the line. Seems that they have given a short training to the regular phone line technicians and are sending them to fix the DSL lines.

I have taken a MTNL broadband with the wireless modem. wired port works but the wireless part has never worked for since the date of installation (six months ago).
MTNL just visits and states that my laptop is defective. Though I have demonstrated with 3 different laptops + additionally MTNL have tried with their own laptop that the wireless connectivity does not work. However they are not unable to set right the problem and they have stopped responding to my complaints.

complaints lodged on the web are just closed saying problem resolved without visiting / resolving.
Hence I am totally unsatisfied wiht MTNL service. they don't have the technical accument to attend to the problem.

I agree with you analysis of Tate’s poor service track record
We have a corporate connection with tata but in month it's hardly works and service is too bad they have customer care division it is not customer care it is customer HARASSMENT division

I have a Pacenet account of 256 kbps unlimited. I have no problems with them but their franchisees Sonali Cable Services, Malad, and the franchisees agents are a bunch of petty thieves. Last month when I returned to India, I was offered 256 kbps unlimited with an unbeleivable download speed of 55 to 60 KB/s. I fell for it sgainst my better judgement. On October 1st being impressed by the speed, I further renewed it for a period of 3 months. In a weeks time, the download speed came down to about 25 KB/s. When I complained, I was told that thats the speed I would get on a 256 connection.
    1. I feel the franchisee is trying to bullshit to gain clientale. Pace net should have greater control over thier clients integrity.
    2. MTNL charges for 512 kbps are the same what the franchisee charges for a 256kbps connection.
    Pacenet please wake up.

Hi All. I am a resident of Virar and I have used/tried almost all the internet services. i hav used Reliance, Tata, pacenet and Sify. I consider my self unlucky to hav come across such pathetic service providers. But of all these Sify is the worst. A plan of 256kbps results in actual speed of 30-40 odd kbps, Download speed unmentionalble, discontinued services for days, Customer service almost non-existant, technicians never arrive. All n all, its the worst. Dont fall for Sify even if they offer it for free coz u may need to pay heavily to the doctor for u wud be continuously banging ur heads.

Technically also they are pathetic. Slow speed and frequent problems. Please avoid this.

I have been using MTNL broadband connection(landline) since 2006 in office as well as resid.I dont know about others but personally,I am extremely satisfied with their net speed. There are breakdown issues at times but that is resolved after telephonic complaint.Possibly because I never subscribed for unlimited usage plan. Its just an eyewash. I limit myself to about 5 GB download p.m.and its more than sufficient. At Rs 750 p.m(+ser.tax),with v.fast speed of 1-1.5 mb,you get more than what is asked for.My advice - Come out of unlimited plans and you will feel the difference.(30.01.2010, 11.00 pm). Krishna,Mumbai.
