Reliance WiMax in Bangalore and Pune

BroadbandIndia has learnt that Reliance Communications will be launching its broadband services on the WiMax platform in Bangalore and Pune within the next two months. Airtel, BSNl and Tata Indicom have also tested and are weighing options to introduce service in the city.

Reliance official said,
RCOM can launch the unlicensed version of WiMax service anytime as it has completed all the tests. The initial launch will be in Pune and Bangalore and later move to other cities. BSNL is also looking to launch its WiMax service in Pune.
Sify and You telecom have already deployed Wimax for business customers in few cities in India. Bangalore Wi-Max was live for a short period last year during BangaloreIT.In.

We have used and tested Tata Indicom Broadband and Reliance NetConnect [Wireless Internet using data card, a.k.a Discover Reliance Internet] are terrible services. Claims of 144Kbps speed on Reliance Wireless Internet is a straightforward lie.

Well unlike reliance netconnect, reliance broadband has delivered! I got my connection 8 days after applying (including the week end). I am getting 250+ kpps on the 300kbps connection. Download speeds of about 40 kbps for normal downloads.(35-38 for rapidshare and around 37 for torrents)
All things considered i am pretty satisfied with it.

    Hi Friends,

Please don't go for Reliance connection. I had applied for RELIANCE WIMAX in the month of July-07 by paying installation charge of Rs 562.
Even after two months I have not been provided connection. Every time I call them they make false promises. If I call their call center, they don’t have any database they refer to GURUMURTHY and BHARTH RAO in Bangalore. And these guys are smart enough to not to pick the call to avoid customer complaints.

Now I am chasing these people to get my money refunded….

So please DON’T JUMP IN THIS WELL

    Hi All,
I have been using Reliance wimax connection since one month. Speed is real good whenever I 'CAN' connect to Internet. I often encounter a problem when it cannot reach DHCP server and hence I dont get dynamic IP generated which results into no connectivity to Internet. Now, it has been a custom for me to call up Reliance Wimax helpdesk and get it resolved first (which often takes 1 day!!) before I can use Internet. All I want to know is: Is anyone facing the same problem??

Reliance wimax customer support is worst and they hardly care what a customer is going thru. I got a wimax connection in banaglore in hanumanth nagar area one and half month agao. Recently i was not able to connect the internet. I lodged a companint on 4th of september and i was told that some will call u and solve the problem. So after 2 days no calls i called the customer support again gave them the so called "COMPLAINT NUMBER" i was again told that you isse is in solving status I told the executive to transfer the call to supervisor he did that...after keeping me on hold for about 8 minutes. I spoke to supervisor SANDEEP he assured me that within 24 hours you will get a call. BUT NO AFTER ALL IT IS RELIANCE..So after 2 days I again gave a call to customer support and again same FAKE ASSURANCE...TILL DATE I HAVE NOT GOT ANY CALL FROM ANYWHERE...I work from home and I HAVE LOST around 8 thousand ruppes BECAUSE of RELIANCE WIMAX...WHO IS THE CONCERNED PERSON.....

One word to describe "RELIANCE WIMAX BROADBAND" is it "SUCKS!!!"..

When you have luck, u get connected and the speed are good. I get 250kbps for 300 kbps connection and sometimes even more than that.

BUT the main problem is it doesn't work MOST of time. You have to face Errors like "Limited Connection" , the status of your connections (thru telnet 192.168.1.1 and command 'sh bs') will show N/A and even if shows OPERATIONAL , it doesn't work..

    SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS..

    CUSTOMER CARE SUCKS!!

    RELIANCE WIMAX SUCKS!!

    hi guys,
I am from Bangalore. I took the wimax connection from reliance. The service is pathetic.
Please don't go with the Reliance Wimax connection.
There DHCP server will be down some twice or thrice in a week (I have experienced it). Apart from this, there is some serious problem with their instrument (indoor). If you call their customer care, they will give you a call report number. There after you keep on calling them. Every time they will say the same thing, "We will look into the matter".
I am tasting the same thing for last 4 days and no action has been taken.
So guys, I will advice every body "NOT TO GO WITH RELIANCE " .

    Hi folks,

    I am from Bangalore.

Believe me, my experience with the Reliance wimax lasted only for 20 days. It was a such a pain to always hope and expect the internet to come up, as I always got the message "limited or no connectivity". The steps which the tech support or field engineers follow are at my fingertips, because I am so well versed repeating it every day atleast 6-10 times a day.But to no help!!!!!

I have a dozen of telephone numbers which I followed up with but nothing at all happened.
I remember about 4 engineers ( from reliance) and 2 engineers ( the last pair from a firm called Shobita which reliance has employed), so in total 6 engineers have visited my place, just to again configure settings until i get the message ""limited or no connectivity".".

Pathetic service indeed.I think Anil or Mukesh Ambani are totally unaware that this concept of " Reliance Wimax" totally sucks.

So when I called up the Customer Service to disconnect, they informed that I will still be charged for another 15 days. Best of all these are the 15 days when I absolutely have no wimax connection ( the last set of engineers, from shobita did a lousy job altering the position of antenna such that the signal of 22 reduced to 6, where as the min signal required is 18).

Please remember the engineers who come to assist in rectifying the complaints always land up in a pair and none will be in a position to comprehend english. So I being a localite still managed to only know Reliance Company is big time cheat and does not adhere to so called standards, not a bit.

PEOPLE, TO SUM MY EXPERIENCE WITH RELIANCE, I SUGGEST, KINDLY DO NOT OPT FOR RELIANCE WIMAX. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME, MONEY AND PATIENCE.

ALL THE COMMENTS POSTED IN THIS BLOG WHICH YOU WILL READ OR HAVE READ TURNS OUT TO BE 101% AN ULTIMATE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Friends,

    I am from Bangalore.

I work from home , i had taken relience wimax connection. First few days awesome. But after one week , it is nightmare..,. It is totally unpredictable some time gets connected sometime not. Most of the time when you need it urgently it will not work.

And about the customer service they will never listen to you , i have had worst experience with them.

Upon that if you don't hold an relience phone connection , then be ready to pay the STD bills you will have by calling relience customer service as their toll free number hardly work.

I ended up calling customer service almost every day on the STD call (their mumbai service center) , reason being i work from home and their connection never works in morning (marta kya na karta). Resulting my STD bill of calling on relience customer service is more than my relience wimax bill 999. Believe me its true.

If you wanna spoile your peace of mind , please go ahead with relience wimax connection.

I am still holding this connection, reason being in my area there is no other connection available , i enquired AIRTEL BSNL and all other multiple times but they don't have the ports available. The day i get a news that any other provider is available in my area, first thing i would do to is to get rid of this pathetic connection.

    hi all,
I have recently moved to Bangalore and I agree with all your complaints about the WIMAX service. Anonymous & everyone else, you're not alone!
& im also hanging on to it because no other service provider can give me any connection. call this an IT hub??
This is a nightmare and vicious cycle that won't end.
It took more than a month for application to go through, and another month for installation.
The connection was down for another month after, and even till today it comes on & off practically everyday! You never know when you can get connection.
I end up calling the so called 'helpdesk' almost everyday & end up clocking STD bills. All they can do is give standard responses. Worse if you register a 'complaint'. That means they will no longer put you through to the technical dept who could possibly help you troubleshoot. They will say they can only 'escalate the matter' by forwarding emails.
They are also not 'programmed' to take up any other non-standard complaints, like eg. 'My earlier complaint has not been addressed' & 'their service sucks!'
& they have the cheek to bill me & ask why im not paying the bill.

CAUTION: This is probably the worst of my experiences. Few days back, Reliance sent 4 men to my apartment to check my connection. Turns up they were suppliers of the equipment and were given my address to do their equipment testing! I only realised after much probing but they had already used my system and I have no idea what they could have been doing.
Reliance did not get my permission before giving out my address, and they could only show me a part note from a Mr Suresh from Reliance. end of the day, they restored my connection, but only for that night.

so if you ever have a choice, DO NOT GO FOR RELIANCE WIMAX!!!!

heres a few more contacts for complaints, if it will help...

I used to used Airtel services for my Broadband needs but unfortunately had to give it up when I left the country. On coming back I took Reliance Wi-max thinking it to be a superior connection. It is one of the worst connections I have ever used. Even my local cable provider provided me a better connection henceforth. Best part is that when I left the connection I got numerous calls to confirm my bill payment but over the time I used the connection and had problems no one even cared to give me a call back to follow up. I escalated the call to all levels. Supervisor, Nodal Officer, CEOs office but none could give me a solution. Moral : It is a half balked system which they are still working on by experimenting on the customers. Poor show reliance !!

PS : Gurumurthy and other senior people have left the company :)

    Hey Guys,
Don't ever go for reliance wimax. Its such a useless venture from Anil Ambani. This fellow spoiled his fathers name just beacause of wimax.:(
I'm an unfortunate customer of reliance wimax. i'm using it for past 4 months. It hardly worked 15 days. Though bill doesn't reach me, connection will be cut if not paid on time. Be carefull with the bill too, it may carry some extras usually:)

Technical: When installed the signal was 25 above & 55 (sh bs). Now its gone to 12 & 80. Though when the signal was 25, you will never get ip address. if some times you get ip address, your login page will not work.

Customer care: Its a patience testing center. If you hv high BP plz dont call. They hv three framed sentences. Whatever problem u call, u'll get these answers. 1. I understand your problem. 2. Its in process. 3. I appologise for that.
They are just like defenders. Better dont call them even If your connection don't work.
The local(bangalore) service dept. is also a perfect match for them.
the last complaint i registered for "wimax not working" was on 7th ont 07. Till today(4th Nov) i didn't get any feed back. Hence hesitantly i called to the customer care(just a final try before cancelling it). I got the same answer " Its in process" ...

    Advise: Be away from IT

Reliance Wimax Sucks, It works only about 4-5 hrs a day, other time there server will be down. They say the server is under maintenence and takes about 3 hrs. And the customer care is one of the worst in the world. You can expect BSNL Customer Care is 1000 times better than Reliance Customer Care. They dont even respond to your mails, Even the Nodal Office and Apellete Authority will not answer your calls or mails. If you goto web world they say you have to call 30337777 or 30332009 (In bangalore). On 30332009 who have to contact Ms. Geetha Srinivas Rao who is the incharge for Karnataka Circle. And her cell number is 9342771186 she receives the call and says I will call you back in 10 mins and later she wont receive your call. Later you need to search for a new number to call her. till your problem gets solved you need to hunt for a new number ever time.

    Hi,

I also took a Wimax connection about 3 months back. I was on the 750/4GB plan. After about three days, I realized that I was surely going to cross the limit of 4 GB. So I called the customer service and was informed that I could change my plan and be saved. And then starts the nightmare, two days after I upgraded (Rs.1499/7.5 GB) the connection became more unstable than Karnataka government.

I kept getting the DHCP error and those stupid customer service guys had no freaking idea of what was happening and kept giving me some stupid commands that I know will not work.

So technically I was down for more than 3 days a week. Then came nightmare number two, the bill. The bill was for about Rs.1950, and all my usage added up to less than 6 GB and I was on a 7.5 GB download plan. So I asked them to rework my bill, which they refused, and when I said that I technically had more than 1.5 GB still left. They said that is not there problem, is it not. If I had the connection working, I would have surely made use of it or even if I had exceeded the limit I would have paid for it. But paying for service that you cannot use is just bullshit.

Whenever the connection was working the speed was awesome, but alas, it hardly works.

Reliance needs to fire the guy who head there Wimax department, Kill the guy who runs the technical support department and castrate the guy who handles billing, then might be they will improve.

    For 150KBPS CONNECTION
    STANDARD CHARGE-750/MONTH+TAX=940
CALLS TO GET YOUR ISSUE FIXED=70/-
LOSS OF WORK DUE TO FREQUENT CONNECTVITY ISSUE =200(Variable)
SO TOTAL YOU HAVE TO PAY 1200 PER MONTH PER 150KBPS WITHOUT HAVING SUFFICIENT CONNECTIVITY.

It sucks to be a reliance WIMAX customer planning to shift.Especially for those people staying at bangalore I am writing my comments, don't go for reliance as initially for some days you will get a very good service, after that there will be various technical problem like limited connectivity and all other type of problem, and the worst part of the issue is not the tecnical problem every tecnology comes with fare share of gliches, but in this case there are no helping hand as they don't have a mechanism in place to take care of the technical problem at bangalore, every time you have to call to mumbai and tell them repetedly about your problem, but no solution happens even after weeks and months, but the bill continue to pile up at your door step.I am giving you a analysis of cost you have to pay for a standard 150kbps connection....please go to the top
As you are Indian consumers you are smart to judge your self.

    Thanks,
    Mohan

This fucking sucks!!!!! I've two laptops....an Apple MacBook Pro and a HP. With HP, it takes the DHCP server atleast 15-20 mins to get an IP (on a good day when the net works!!!) and guess how long it takes for an IP to be assigned to my Apple laptop...indefinite wait. If m really lucky I can expect the IP within an hour and on a bad day it takes me some 2-3 hours of plug in/plug outs... system reboots and what not to get a dynamic IP. I've been sick of this of late. I was planning to work from home but that looks to be a DISTANT DREAM in our country. I've both Tata Indicom and Airtel in my locality (Airport Rd, Bangalore) but sadly they are saturated to capacity and are not providing new connections. Reliance-ADAG sucks big tym!!! My landlord is a Reliance-ADAG senior official and that too in the WiMax division but even he doesnt shy away from abusing their fucking service. And yeah how will I forget my plight with their fucking support guys who come to your place to setup a new connection and also to fix any probs..I've had 3 different pairs of gays (they always come in sets of two). All the assholes are as technically screwed up as one could expect. Worse still bastards don't know a word in English/Hindi. I had communicate with all of them using some bloody sign language!!!

Toll Free phone not working most of the days. Technical support is horrible. If you have the router (wireless), then they won't know to how to trouble shoot. Disconected the service and applied for BSNL. BSNL is very stable.

    Hi,

As i said in my earlier post that after installing the net connection in my home browsing speed was very slow..but after 2 days somehow everything started working fine
here are the results from spedtest.net

    for servers in usa--
    downloading speed ~ 450kbps
    uploading speed ~ 170kbps
    ping ~ 340ms

    mumbai servers-

    downloading speed ~ 200kbps
    uploading speed ~ 100+ kbps(don't remeber exactly)
    ping ~ 150ms

btw for torrent downloads i'm getting constant download speed in range 30-37KBps and upload speed between 10-18KBps

the only problem now is that while playing CS 1.6 online i never get latency bellow 130, i think maybe this is because it is a wireless connection...

    All,

I cannot agree more with all of you on Reliance. With my own set of frustrations, I would name them "UnReliance". They don't have a clue of What customer service is. I am a user of Reliance Wimax( Its un usable actually).

Getting an IP is very very difficult and when you do get one it usually stays for a very short period of time. Their DHCP lease is very short.
Their Billing is the worst thing in the world. I have never received a bill on time and everytime i give a complaint and they send me a bill. Once I didnt complain and guess what happened! I didnt get the bill. As a result I didnt pay. Now I got my connection cut promptly the very next day of the last day and customer service dude says "I didnt give any complaint" .

One thing I hate is "We are extremely sorry that you had to face this inconvenience" bullshit and also, their question "Is there anything else I can help you with". What else would I dare to ask a company like UnReliance?.

I am using Reliance wimax. There is a incredibly stupid problem about it. And this is in the year 2008, when the Telcom Technology is supposed to be highly advanced. THE RELLIANCE BOX TAKES MORE THAN ONE HOUR FOR THE INITIAL SYNC WITH THE TOWER. So you should not swtich off the transreciever. If you switch it off , and the next day you switch it on to use the internet, It will take more than one hour before you use can the internet again.

Imagine you are buying an urgent filght ticket online, or a train ticket under the "Tatkal" scheme, If unfortunately, there is a power goes cut for five minutes. After the power is back, you have to wait for one or two hours before the Reliance box syncs and is ready for the use to book the tickets.

    Hi,

I booked Reliance Wimax in Dec 07 & their service could not be delivered as they could not manage the signals at Jalahalli east. I had applied through a person by name "Srinath" who had advertised of the wimax in the banners he had put up. Now we had to get a refund of 562/- which never came to us even after constant reminders to this person & today he says cheque is dispatched. Just now, when i called him for the cheque details. He passed the buck by giving me another number of Ms.Gayathri on 9343179625. Ms.Usha picked the call & she was not aware of the transaction. Reliance guys dont even have a basic database of customers who applied, leave alone the data of accounts & finance related matters. Now they give me a customer call centre number for making a complaint, this lady is not even forthcoming about where they are located & how best we can find a solution to the refund. The customer centre number : 1800 3000777 is not working too..
    # Receipt Number : 1300 0010 4680 69
    # Name : Gopalakrishna KS
    # Cheque Details : 351 153
    # Bank : Malleshwaram Co-op Bank
    # Date of Transaction : 01st Dec 2007
    # Reliance Person who collected the Cheque & issued Receipt : LOKESH
    # Amount Paid : 562/-

m a reliance wimax customer at delhi using rel. wimax services for the past 2 months..i have 150 kbps unlimited plan..get download speed of 16-20kbps consistently..takes 5 sec. to get an ip adress when i connect..the service rocks..prior to this i tried tata-vsnl and sify broadband..both of them suck..reliance wimax is gr8..there are only 2 minor issues i face.....

1.in case of power failure to the roof top wimax dish..when u turn on the power again it takes 5-10 mins to bring u back online..my solution dont turn off power to the dish as far as possible

2.during my usage of 2 months..and i use a lot almost 10-12 hrs per day...on 2 occasions the reliance server was down and i couldnt get an ip address..got resolved on its own in an hour or so on both the occasions

...no disconnections..no slow speeds..no connectivity issues...reliance wimax rocks..atleast in delhi..m stayin at paschim vihar new delhi.

    Hi Guys,

I had a terrifying experience with Wimax Reliance connection. History: I live in New Airport road, Bangalore, recently i opted Reliance Wimax broadband connection with Static IP (jan 2008). The cost for the connection was Rs.1440/-. I was working remotely for my company located in PUNE. Initially the connection was stable and working fine (that last only for a month). On second week of Feb the real horror started and it continued till March. The net was not getting connected, and was always displaying the well know message "limited or no connectivit". Every 2 days i was calling the Cust Care to explain them the problem. But non of them showed any interest in my queries but always ended up noteing down the complant or request number. I still believe they all are jokers who are assigned the job of assiting the customer which they don't do it at any cost. At the same time i kept following up with the regional customer care 30332095 office here in bangalore. Finally after lodging 5 to 10 complaints via phone and email one person by name Vijay has arrived to help me out. He intoduced me as Field engineer with another guy with him (in no angle he was looking like a field officer).
He tried to rectify, moved up to terrace to adjust the antenna directions, made endless number of calls and finally he told me to teminate the connection since there is a lot of variation in the downlink frequency and its not getting fixed. I took his suggestion and according i lodged the complaint on March 15. At that stage my internet was in a zero working condition. The Cust Care joker said it will take 15 days to teminate the connection. I lost the job b'cos of this pathatic connection. After 2 weeks i tried knowing my status of my connection as i am not sure about them processing the customer request promptly (we all know this). I sent 2 to 3 emails every week but they just kept saying it will be resolved. On May 08 the lady frm reliance billing department called asking to pay the bill for april month (Rs.1440)which i have not at all used, i refused and again raised the complaint by giving her my termination request Id. She never got back to me with resolution. After few days again in the June month the same lady called me to pay the bill this time its double(Rs.2890). Imagine my condition, i couldn't control myself this time - i took her left and right, interesting she never hung up the phone but kept on argueing on the pursuit. After another fews days i again tried to talk with regional cust care in bangalore - this time the person said my account was cancelled in July 08. (Cancelled means i have not paid the bill so they have taken action by cancelling the account).

Guys please be-aware before going for this connection. Even my friend has a problem with them on Billing. My personal suggestion: "NO" to Wimax with R******CE.

Please let me know where i can lodge the complaint. Does anyone knows where exactly the Consumer dispute officer in Bangalore. My email id: super.marshal@gmail.com
