| MTNL Triband Rates Drop - Compete with Airtel |

State owned Telecom, MTNL good in the wireline and broadband business has taken the later business very seriously after we criticized its Wireless and 3G operations and sent it to the management. In direct response to our critic is what we feel, MTNL launched a broadband price war with Bharti Airtel.
Here is comparison of various UNLIMITED Data Transfer Broadband Plans of MTNL and Airtel Broadband.
Speed - 512 Kbps
MTNL Triband - Rs 999
Airtel - Rs 1099 + Free Calling Value Worth Rs. 100
Speed 1 Mbps
MTNL Triband - Rs 1599
Airtel - Rs 1699 + Free Calling Value Worth Rs. 100 + Free Gaming + Free Anti Virus
Speed 2 Mbps
MTNL Triband - Rs 3999
Airtel - Rs 2999 + Free Calling Value Worth Rs. 300 + Free Gaming + Free Anti Virus
Speed 4 Mbps
MTNL Triband - Rs 9,999
Airtel doesn't offer the same.
Airtel, Tata, Reliance and other private players have data transfer limit even for UNLIMITED Plans under fair usage policy [This is not authorized by TRAI nor DoT nor Government and is totally unfair]. MTNL doesn't have any such policy and if you are a bdnwidth HOG, you can ty MTNL and let us know your review. |

I have 512 Kbps from Airtel and have never got that speed. At the most it is 400 Kbps. Airtel is sucking Rs 1099 + Taxes from me.

Do you any source for this :) as there are no new tariffs on MTNL Delhi site :/

YOU Telecom offers the same plans at much lesser rate than both MTNL and Airtel:
512 Kbps prepaid Unlimited: Rs 775 (MTNL - Rs 1099; Airtel - Rs 999)
1 Mbps Prepaid unlimited: Rs 1300 (MTNL - Rs 1699; Airtel - Rs 1599)

i would prefer MTNL any day compared to the others. I have MTNL's Nights unlimited Plan which good enough for me as i am a nocturnal animal. only 1 thing sucks with mtnl is customer service if something may go wrong it may take ages for it to be corrected.

can some one let me know if the transfer rate on Unlimited MTNL plans is 512 KBPS or is it 64 KBPS - i.e 1:8

Tikona Digital Networks(www.tikona.in) offers 600 Kbps unlimited plans at much lesser rate than both MTNL, Airtel & almost at par with You Tele:
600 Kbps prepaid Unlimited: Rs 799 (MTNL - Rs 1099; Airtel - Rs 999, You Tele - Rs 775)
Plus you get the benefit of first 400 MB of usage at 2Mbps speed & after consumption of first 400 MB, customer get unlimited data usage at 600 Kbps.
I am a resident of Mumbai city & using the same unlimited 600 Kbps plan.
