Online DVD Rental in Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai

With rising disposable income and pathetic city infrastructure, not all Bangaloreans want to enjoy their weekend in the new multiplex cinema halls. Realizing this, the NetFlix model of online DVD rental has been introduced in India by SeventyMM and CatchFlix. Both companies offer door delivery and pick-up service.

SeventyMM is operational in the cities of Bangalore and Delhi and has huge collection of DVDs as well as VCDs. It also doesn't charge any late fees so that you can keep the movies as long as you want. Also, you are a movie buff, you can rent unlimited DVDs or VCDs for just Rs549 a month and can hold 2 movies at a time.

CatchFlix still in Beta also operates on the model of SeventyMM. CatchFlix is operational in the cities of Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. However, some of the shortcomings compared to SeventyMM are, CatchFlix charges a flat fees of Rs99 per DVD for 3 days. Good for folks who want to watch just one or two movies in a month.

Have a Nice and Happy Extended Weekend!!!

Telecom Crimes - Reliance Industries Top Management Chargesheeted

Top management of Reliance Industries which include Akhil Gupta(Left, Ex-CEO Reliance Infocomm) and Manoj Modi(Current Head Reliance Retail) have been chargesheeted by the CBI for their involvement in Multi-Crores Telecom scam. The Kingpins deviced a plot to mask international calls as local calls and then diver them to BSNL networks resulting in loss of hundreds of crores to the government controlled BSNL, which has the highest number of landline subscribers in the country.

Reliance and its officials have acted against the national interest by opening easy door for communication to any group trying to destabilize India and its economy. This offence is very serious in nature due to the fact that, many international agents and banned islamic millitant groups may have communicated escaping the government surveillance.

Why e-Commerce Sucks in India ?

My online shopping experience in India so far has been awful. It sux to shop online with Indian Portals especially FirstandSecond.com, online book retailer.

I ordered a book on Saturday(02-Sept) and they asked me not to pay until they make sure the book was available. WTF ? If you don't have the book available then why did you let me purchase it. Read On.. Finally they asked me to pay for it and the payment was processed on Mon(04-Sept). Their e-mail system is terrible. Keeps sending multiple copies of the same e-mail.

They then sent me another e-mail saying they are procuring the book(04-Sept). As of today(08-sept) the order is still under processing(It's not even shipped). So are they searching on the streets of Delhi for my book before they ship it ? My order # 00611-20900-50460.

Trust me this is not how e-commerce works. It should be all instantenous without any further effort from the consumer. (I had to call DELHI 4 times and fed up of dealing with them, I decided to expose them). Please don't shop on FirstandSecond.com. FirstandSecond.Com Sux. NEVER EVER SHOP on FirstandSecond.com.

Tata Telecom plans to be amongst top 3 in 5 years

Tata Indicom plans to be amongst the top 3 telcos in India within the next 5 years.
"Tatas don’t enter a market to be number five or six. We have to be number one or two. We have a scenario that’ll get us there by 2011" said Tata teleservices CEO, Darryl Green

So who will be the other two ? BSNL and Airtel ? Oho No. Reliance Infocom won't give up. So pushing the government owned PSU out of big three league, can we expect Airtel, Reliance and Tata Indicom ? They might become the big 3 integrated players, but mobile space will have individual leaders in different market segments like Aircel in TamilNadu.
