New building, an effective and well supportive new IT system and an enthusiastic and well qualified staff provide the essential base for a high quality examining office.“India is also at an advanced stage of joining the Madrid Protocol on Trade Marks. | ASSOCHAM Recommends Cheaper PCs |
|
ASSOCHAM has recommended Cheaper PCs and use of existing infrastructure like Power Lines to increase the broadband penetration in the worlds second most populous country.
TRAI & DoT's target for Broadband Subscribers in India for 2007 is 9 Million. At the end of 2006, India had just 2 Million Broadband Subscribers. So this target seems very ambitious. They also recommend that PCs should be cheaper than Rs 10,000 to have mass penetration along with substantial localized content.
ASSOCHAM accepts that India does not have a comprehensive wired infrastructure in place and thus WiMax and 3G are the only solutions for deploying Broadband in Rural and Semi-Urban areas. The study further reveals that, one of the major issues facing broadband networks is the congestion created by peer-to-peer traffic on those networks. So what is NIXI doing ?

| F-Secure Package with Reliance + Tata Indicom Internet |
|
After tying up with PC vendors, security firms are selling subscriptions of Anti-Virus Packages and Firewalls through Internet Service Providers in India.
F-Secure leading Security Solutions company has tied up with Reliance Broadband and Tata Indicom Broadband to sell subscriptions mainly targeted at the booming Small and Medium Enterprise Market in India. Mr. P Venugopal Raja of F-Secure said,
Telcos are offering security not only as a revenue opportunity but also to reduce the churn.
However, in India the churn is inevitable because of lack of customer service. At least I am not happy with Tata Indicom's service in Bangalore. |

| Click-To-Call / SMS Catching up in India |
|
Google was the first one to introduce Click-To-Call based advertising in India. Tyroo Ad Network first introduced the concept of Click-To-SMS. Now portals like Sulekha are borrowing ideas from them. Sulekha introduced Click-To-Call on their Yellow Pages a direct copy of YellowPages.Com. However, when testing Sulekha's service, the call never got connected. Caller-Id is masked and is a potential security threat to National security. India doesn't have laws for Private Listing or Masking of numbers without written permission from the City Police Commissioner.
Click-To-Call can be widely misused especially in India. If you check out Orkut, their are so many disgruntled fellas handing out phone numbers. So this is just another means for them to play the prank. Click-To-SMS which is really cheap can survive as people tender to ignore if its a spam. |

| Live Bangalore Traffic Info |
|
Polluted and Dirty Bangalore which adds more than 1,000 vehicles a day is now having Live Traffic info online and also on Mobile.
To your left you are seeing the Live Map of traffic conditions. Color Code. Green - Clear Orange - Slow Red - Delay.
The project [BTIS] is funded by the State Government with network support from Bharti Airtel, which is collecting data from thousands of Cameras and Sensors. The information is compiled at a central database which you can query using Airtel's 54321 SMS service [I am not sure if this SMS service is FREE]
However, you need to know short codes to query the database which is a tedious process if you don't have GPRS / WAP enabled. For example, we sent an SMS to 54321 with body NGBR HAL. The distance between Nagarbhavi and HAL is 21.3 Km and estimated travel time with live traffic conditions is 62 minutes was the reply. BTIS also provides carpool information.

| Delhiites in quest for sex on Google |
|
According to Google Trends, Delhiites occupy the top slot on the basis of number of search queries made on Google for the word "sex".
The ranking is calculated by taking the ratio of number of queries on "sex" divided by total number of queries from a particular city. On your left is the list of top 10 cities in the world where its citizens are in quest of online s*x.
Overall India occupies the third place behind Pakistan and Egypt. India does have strict cyber laws in place banning obscenity at Cyber Cafes and Public places but you can still see the facts yourself . |
