| Subscribers to Double in 2008 |

Indian Telecom reforms are now reaching the Internet sector as Broadband Subscribers in India are set to double in 2008. India had ~3 mn broadband subscribers at the beginning of 2008. Latest reports indicate that the number of broadband subscribers in India stands at 4.57 mn. Here is an exclusive Graph that shows the growth of Broadband in India.
 Kindly note that the growth is mainly coming from Wired DSL Broadband and not the over hyped WiMax. DoT has set a target of 20mn broadband connections for 2010 and it now appears to hit the target if growth continues as it has been in the past 10 months :-)
This increase in subscriber numbers will see the momentum spread to other Web / Internet sectors. For example, the first beneficiary will be the Search Engine Marketing comanies. IAMAI in a report released just minutes ago has said that Search Engine Marketing in India will double to $225 mn, a blessing for Google :-)Labels: Search-Marketing |

| Airtel PC Secure Anti-Virus Subscription |

 Last year, F-Secure introduced PC / Laptop Security solutions in association with Reliance and Tata broadband. Then, Airtel was associated with Mcafee's security solutions. Now, F-Secure has roped in Airtel Broadband as well to offer protections against Virus, Spyware, Hackers etc and has introduced Airtel PC Secure Software as a Service. [It is not 100% that you will be unaffected, because you need to regularly update their patches]
Airtel PC Secure supports Microsoft Windows 98/ ME/ 2000 Professional with SP4/ XP. There is no mention about Vista. The subscription comes in 3 packages as discussed below,
- Basic - Monthly subscription of Rs 60 or yearly - Rs 499
- Advanced - Monthly subscription of Rs 75 or yearly - Rs 599
- Premium - Monthly subscription of Rs 100 or yearly - Rs 799
