Fonera 2.0 Routers uses Free Bandwith Time

Fon.com the WiFi Revolution has launched Fonera 2.0 router. You can already share some bandwidth with other Foneros and roam the world for free. Martin in the PR said,
it is a router that downloads your torrents, your files from RapidShare, Megaupload, and that uploads your videos to Youtube, your pictures to Facebook, Picasa, or Flickr all on its own. Fonera 2.0 do the file transfer while your PC does more important stuff, is turned off, or is away from home with you.
Foneros are not very popular in India and with the introduction of limited bandwidth broadband connection, users will get skeptical to share with others.

Airtel 16 Mbps Speed - The Fastest - Should You Go for it ?

Airtel which already provides the fastest broadband service in India - 8 Mbps has launched 16 Mbps broadband internet service in Delhi NCR, Bangalore and Chennai which will be later extended to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata.

Airtel 16 Mbps Plan Details:
We have obtained the details of the 16 Mbps plan which is as follows.
  • Speed Combo Rs 2,999 with 20GB of Data Transfer Limit. Additional Transfer will be charged at Rs 0.5 / MB
  • Speed Combo 4,999 is packed with 50Gb Data Transfer limit. Additional transfer is charged at Rs 0.50 / MB
Problem with Airtel 16 Mbps / 8 Mbps Plans:
Airtel has done an excellent job by increasing the broadband speed that can be made available to the consumer. However, capping the Data Transfer limit it disappoints the consumer. Now compare this to 1 Mbps Unlimited Data Transfer Plan which costs Rs 2,222. In this, the first 100 GB is served at 1 Mbps subsequently the speed is marked down to 512 Kbps. However, there is no additional fees as in the case of 16 Mbps.

We recommend users to go for 1 Mbps Unlimited Broadband Connection rather than 16 /8 Mbps. For further details call 1-800-103-0121 with our site as the reference.

Tata Communications - Retail Subscribers Growth

Tata Communications / Indicom [TCOM] intends to invest heavily in this segment. TCOM already has WiMAX connectivity on 3.3GHz band, and it intends to participate in the upcoming BWA auction. This would help TCOM bridge the last mile access as well as add muscle to its retail broadband services. TCOM currently has 220,000 broadband customers with ARPU's greater than Rs800 per month.

While broadband could be one of the growth drivers for TCOM, we believe that the competition in the space remains immense. Further TCOM would need to invest in service distribution capabilities. Also TCOM intends to participate in the BWA auction, and higher than expected cash outflow could put pressure on TCOM.

The following chart shows the rate of growth of subscribers with Tata Communications Broadband between 2007 and 2009. They have a pathetic 220,000 customer base. Tata Indicom WiMax has mere 35,000 WiMax Subscribers.
