The Cabinet Approved the New National Telecom Policy but Execution of the Scam Scarred Government is the Key thing to Watch.
Most Important Developments in NTP 2011 2012 are as follows,
Liberalisation of spectrum: The NTP has approved that spectrum must be liberalized and can be used for providing any service in any technology
De-linking of License with Spectrum: Spectrum to be de-linked from license and all further licenses to be unified licenses. This is in line with TRAI recommendation where it has suggested unified licenses be either national level, service area level or district level.
One Nation, One License: NTP suggests that there should be one license for the entire country and steps to be taken towards eradication of roaming. One License for the entire nation would also facilitate MNP across the country.
