Tata Photon+ and Reliance NetConnect Broadband+ internet service on EVDO technology has reached customer base close to 500,000 according to Qualcomm, the technology provider which supplies the necessary USB dongles for the same. The company is expecting to ship another 1,000,000 USB Dongles within the next 12 months as demand has been steady. Not a bad start according to us.

Mr. Singh President of Qualcomm India said,

3G dongle prices have already moved from $50 to $40 and we are working towards making i available at $25.

We are really glad that operators like Airtel and Vodafone haven’t raised the issue as Tata Photon+ and Reliance NetConnect Broadband+ are 3G services using the underlying 2G infrastructure.
