Tata Tele to spin off tower unit + ARPU Declines

Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd said on Thursday its board has approved spinning off its telecom tower infrastructure division to a separate unit. It is likely that the entire Tower Operations of Tata group will be consolidated under one company.
In the Indian wireless segment, the ARPU has declined although the tele density of the wireline and wireless services have touched 272.87 million for the quarter ending December 2007,
the latest report published by TRAI stated.
TRAI has also released recommendations for Mobile Number Portability in India and setting up a neutral third party to handle the porting exercise.
