Teledensity 28.33%; Broadband users 4.38 Million

India’s Tele-density [Wireline + Wireless Subscribers] has now reached 28.33% at the end of June-08. India has 325.78 mn phone connections of which 286.86 mn are wireless subscribers [CDMA + GSM] and mere 28.92 mn Landline subscribers.
The number of broadband subscribes in India [> 256 Kbps speed] now stands at 4.38 mn, a growth of almost 100% on YoY basis. Can India hit the magic figure of 15 mn WiMax subscribers by 2012 as predicted by Springboard Research ?
