Government has set it’s eyesight now on Online Indians. P.Chidambram wants to influence them by collecting 12% service tax on VoIP calls
ET is reporting that, VoIP companies like Skype, Net2Phone, Yahoo, DialPad, MediaRing etc will be brought under the ambit of ISP license. This means your VoIP call to the US/UK has gotten costlier but this will help ISPs roll out their own VoIP packages as they had been demanding a level playing field for long time. The Government has further added that, it may monitor all this traffic under the National Security issue.
