Your VoIP call gets costlier.

Government has set it’s eyesight now on Online Indians. P.Chidambram wants to influence them by collecting 12% service tax on VoIP calls :-)

ET is reporting that, VoIP companies like Skype, Net2Phone, Yahoo, DialPad, MediaRing etc will be brought under the ambit of ISP license. This means your VoIP call to the US/UK has gotten costlier but this will help ISPs roll out their own VoIP packages as they had been demanding a level playing field for long time. The Government has further added that, it may monitor all this traffic under the National Security issue.
